An superb, large, detailed map of Grenada from the 1775 West Indies atlas of Thomas Jefferys. Jefferys produced some the best and earliest scientific maps of the Americas based on real data as opposed to imaginings such as California drawn as an island, which still appeared on some maps in the 1700s. Printed on very heavy white laid paper with chain water-marks. Blank verso. There is some very minor edge soiling. Measurements are of the plate mark, with the margins the page size is substantially larger. Overall an excellent, large map of the territory. Guaranteed original antique copperplate map ca 230 years old. |
