German stamp essay on heavy card -- it's hard to see from the scan, but the plate mark is deeply impressed about 4.2x6.3cm and the stamp is ca 2.5x3.3cm; it's easier to see on the reverse. A realy nice unissued essay from Germany circa 1940, showing tower, gatehouse and part of the covered walkway that is attached to the inside of the medieval wall that surrounds the well preserved Bavarian city of Rothenburg. No gum, of course, as made.
